About Planerie

Born out of a desperate need to simplify social planning, Planerie is a passion project with a single goal - to make in-person events actually happen.

The desperation aspect can be illustrated by three personal stories of mine.

Every beginning of summer, my husband shares his birthday with the Memorial Day weekend. So, it has become our tradition to host his birthday party and cookout in our backyard. The final headcount was a guessing game. How many leftover hot dogs would we have to suffer through this year? Having tried online invitation platforms, text messages, calendar systems, phone calls, and spreadsheets to organize our RSVPs, we needed something simpler.

Last year, we made plans to meet our in-laws for an outdoor concert in their town. As we were packing to head out, a friend of mine texted, asking if we had plans to attend our town's night out that same evening. Filled with foam parties, free food, and tons of activities for kids, we had to pass. The worst part - I didn't know it was happening because the event was posted on a social media platform I don't have an account with. Since trying to stay up-to-date about local happenings across several websites and platforms is a full-time job, I needed something simpler.

Since my friend and I moved to separate towns, about an hour from each other, we spent two years attempting to plan an outing that would work for both of our calendars. We had to cancel and delay so many times, as dramatic as it sounds, I thought we would never see each other again. We were finally able to find a day that works but trying to catch up on two years of our life within a few hours is a hard task. Because the thought of trying to schedule something again made me avoid texting her, I needed something simpler.

One very lucky late August afternoon - desperation turned into an idea.

Planerie is a single place where all social planning can be simplified and those plans can be brought to life. With the goal of making events actually happen, it attempts to simplify the process and enable organization, collaboration, and discovery.

Planerie is a place to collaborate with friends. Turning planning into a concrete platform where suggestions can be voted on allows friends to stop talking about meeting each other and actually meet.

Planerie facilitates hosting events and simplifies RSVP tracking. Stripped of event-planning complexity but enabled to suit a variety of events, it's a utility for both - hosts and guests.

Planerie aims to become a one-stop for local happenings, where businesses, non-profit organizations, towns, and even individuals can inform locals of their events - no sign-up needed. Completely ungated and standardized for intuitive search, discoverable events bring vibrant life back to small communities.

I made Planerie for me and my family. Each person who uses this platform gets the same treatment - the greatest quality and care I can provide to make sure that Planerie serves its purpose and achieves its goal. As this Platform grows, its mission remains the same - make social plans happen.
